What is the HTR?
The Harvard Technology Review is the foremost student-run publication on Harvard’s campus exploring the intersections between science, technology, and society.
What is the HTR Summer Fellowship?
Our Summer 2022 Fellowship is a unique opportunity for rising Harvard first-years to get hands-on experience working on our publication. This year, you’ll explore a new tech market that excites you and produce a written piece in which you introduce a startup idea of your own within that market. At the end, you’ll have the chance to participate in an article pitch competition, where you’ll present your article and idea to your peers and judges, and your article will be published on the HTR website.
There is NO required or preferred background in this process. We’d love for anyone who’s even just curious about technology/entrepreneurship to join us this summer for a week and a half of creativity and innovation!
If you’re already a writer for HTR, we invite you to apply for our summer editors fellowship here!
What do the fellows get out of the program?
Fellows will come away from the program with a piece for their own journalistic / entrepreneurial portfolio which is a great addition to the portfolio of any journalist, investor, entrepreneur, etc., in addition to receiving an HTR “staff writer” designation (full comp credit).
They will also benefit from critical skills-building workshops and opportunities to engage in exclusive opportunities: such as joining conversations with esteemed guest speakers, career opportunities (lots of exclusive internship opportunities!), merch, and lots of fun in person activities as well at the end of the fellowship.
What does the fellowship look like?
- August 5th – 14th will be fully virtual and hosted on Zoom so you can participate from anywhere around the world, and we will have a day of in-person activities once everyone has moved into campus on August 25th.
- Weekly sessions for skills-building like market research, ideation, etc and writing work-shopping
- Workshops, fire-side chats, panels, and special opportunities to talk with guest speakers, startup founders, investors, journalists, etc.
